You know that feeling when you’re in the produce aisle, you reach for the product and then you see the sign, “Organic, Product of Origin: Mexico.” You really want that spaghetti squash as an alternative to pasta, but you really hate that it was imported. Do I really want my food to have traveled so many miles?
Let me help solve that problem. For the second year we are offering local, organically grown squash and pumpkins! I am SO thrilled about this.
I used to raise bumper crops in my home garden, but since life has become busier, I no longer take on the personal battle against the squash bugs.
I reached out to our friends at The Pumpkin Juction, near Sterling, and asked if they would be willing to raise some squash for us. They do an excellent job raising organic pumpkins and gourds, so they added a few varieties of squash to the fields as well.

We have a variety of edible and decorative pumpkins. Since they are organically grown, you don’t have to worry if your dog gets a hold of one.

For your autumnal culinary delight we have:

To cook any of these: Cut in half, scoop out the seeds, and bake in the oven until tender. We love to save the seeds to roast and garnish our favorite fall soups. YUM!
Watch the store for more decorative pumpkins and gourds arriving in a few weeks! Please note that selection may vary when you visit.
Story From the Farm
This summer we’ve enjoyed feeding a few black swallowtail caterpillars and watching them transform from caterpillar, to chrysalis to butterfly.

Several times we’ve come home at the end of the day to find a butterfly clinging to our patio door screen!
