Walk the Loop, Beef Bundles, and more…

Come for a Walk

It is such a beautiful time of year. The days are finally cooling off and fall is in the air. Nothing rejuvenates my spirit more than spending time outside in nature.

I would love to invite you to come for a walk in the pasture. There is a walking trail just short of a mile that makes a loop through the Jako Farm pasture. The cows, chickens, and sheep are always moving from paddock to paddock, so you never know which animals you’ll get to walk by.

Feel free to come for a walk from 9am-8pm Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the month of October. Before your walk, please stop first at the farm store to pick up a map and information. The trail starts behind the farm store.
We do ask that you respect the animals’ space. You are a stranger. For your safely and theirs, do not cross fences or attempt to pet the cows or sheep.

Beef Bundles…

Beef bundles are back for a limited time. This is a great way to stock your freezer for the winter and take so much stress out of meal planning. Ground beef is SO versatile and can help you get food on the table fast.

Bundle #1 – $172
▫ 15 pounds of ground beef
▫ 4 pounds of roast
▫ 4 pounds hamburger patties
Bundle #2 – $375
▫ 25 pounds of ground beef
▫ 15 pounds roast
▫ 5 pounds stew meat
▫ 5 pounds hamburger patties

Both bundles give you a 10% savings over purchasing individual cuts from the farm store. We are accepting orders through the end of October or while supplies last! This is the last beef bundle offered in 2021. Our next quarters and sides will be available next summer.

Story From the Farm

This week the whole family worked together to dig our HUGE sweet potato patch in the garden. After digging, we let the sweet potatoes cure for a few weeks. During the curing process, the starches in the tuber turn into sugar, intensifying the buttery sweet flavor and texture of the potato.

I cannot wait to make my favorite Loaded Sweet Potato Soup. Out of all the autumnal seasonal delights, I think sweet potatoes are my favorite. Anticipate seeing sweet potatoes for sale in the farm store in the next month.
Here’s to enjoying the beauty of fall, the bounty of harvest, and building connections with the earth and each other.
